2026 Toyota Corolla rendered: Does the "new year, new me" look suit it?

Reports from various outlets speak of the next-generation Toyota Corolla coming out sometime this year. Mid-2025 seems to be when the vehicle might come out officially, likely heading to our shores for the 2026 model year.

Others believe 2026 sounds more realistic, and so do we, given that we haven't seen any test mules, let alone prototypes, in the open.

One outlet from the Land of the Rising Sun, namely Best Car magazine, which is known for getting its hands on various information on future Toyota products, claims that the next-gen Corolla, states that the PHEV (plug-in hybrid) variant might have a total driving range exceeding 1,300 miles (2,100 km).

Powering it will allegedly be a new 1.5-liter turbo-four gasoline unit, supposedly with BYD's plug-in hybrid technology, which helped some of this company's models achieve the aforementioned autonomy.

The new four-pot is understood to be offered in turbo and non-turbo variants as part of Toyota's new family of gasoline engines.

A larger unit, perhaps with a 2.0-liter displacement featuring forced induction, will perhaps make its way into the upcoming MR2 and Celica sports models.

Thus, the future sounds interesting for Toyota's upcoming products, and we hope the next-gen Corolla features higher quality materials on the inside, new technology gear, and enhanced safety gizmos.

No one seems to know exactly what this model will look like, as it appears that the exterior design hasn't been finalized yet.

Nonetheless, that hasn't stopped the rendering crowd from imagining it, and Theottle's proposal, which was uploaded on YouTube right after New Year's Eve, looks quite realistic and not that bad, to be honest.

The pixel manipulator used the body of the twelfth-generation Toyota Corolla with a few styling cues borrowed from the Crown Sedan to come up with this CGI-infused model, which might just pass as the next-gen Corolla to the average Joe.

However, as stated above, we suspect that the Japanese car manufacturer hasn't completed the design of this upcoming model yet, so don't trust anyone who says otherwise unless they are directly involved in the vehicle's development.

Now, given the very little information we know about the all-new Toyota Corolla, we suspect a 2026 introduction is more plausible, with a launch in our market for the 2027 model year.

But what if this popular compact sedan ends up looking similar to the one the quoted pixel manipulator created? Would it be a yay or a nay to you?
