KTM's crisis is the topic that has been holding court in the two-wheel world for weeks.
Between banks and suppliers, the manufacturer has accumulated a debt close to 3 billion Euros.
As a result, drastic cuts will be needed to be able to start over.
In all this, on November 29th, records were submitted to the court in Ried im Innkreis regarding theself-administered restructuring process, which will be supervised by the court.
There are big clouds on the horizon, which will also affect talks related to the MotoGP, in which they'll also be continuing into 2025 (as Tech3 Team Principal, Hervé Poncharal, confirmed with GPOne).
However, according to what our Carlo Pernat told us, all development in view of the upcoming season will be frozen.
The situation obviously also involves the riders, for which many questions have arisen. One rider is certainly Pedro Acosta, whose contract expires in 2026 and who'll be wearing the factory team colors in 2025, sharing the garage with Brad Binder.
In this climate of profound uncertainty and crisis, other manufacturers are monitoring the evolution of the situation with interest, especially at Ducati, where they're ready to take advantage of it.
This is precisely why, according to what we've learned, Borgo Panigale has already spoken with Albert Valera, Pedro Acosta's manager, who also manages other riders like Jorge Martin and Aleix Espargarò.
While Valera is considering a possible Plan B, Ducati is already looking to the future, and Acosta would be the best option on the market for a relaunch.
In short, the 2025 season has yet to begin, but it seems like they're not idling their time away at Ducati, because Pedro Acosta is the target for the future.
They had already tried to woo him away two years ago but, unfortunately, they weren't able to.
Now, a second attempt will be made, but they also have consider that the doors of the official team are currently barred with Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez under contract until the end of 2026.
But there might be a chance in the satellite teams, especially VR46, with Valetino Rossi who was already interested in Pedro in the past.
The fact remains that, in all this, they'll need to figure out Dorna's position: this year, it managed to reshuffle the cards in the riders market after Pramac's farewell to Ducati. So, Acosta leaving KTM would be no small blow.
