Avelo, the Connecticut-based budget airline, has announced five new routes, which will take off in 2025.
The airline announced in a press release on Monday the five new non-stop routes from the state, with four of them operating from Southern Connecticut's Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN).
From February, the airline will fly from Connecticut to Jacksonville, Florida (JAX), Dallas Fort Worth, Texas (DFW), Detroit, Michigan (DTW), and Portland, Maine (PWM).
Additionally, the airline will introduce a new route from Hartford's Bradley International Airport (BDL) to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ), its third international destination.
Currently, Avelo serves Cancún, Mexico (CUN), and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ), from BDL, as well as 54 American cities in 24 states.
This week's announcement brings Avelo's total number of routes to 39, 31 of which operate from HVN and eight from BDL.
Newsweek has contacted Avelo Airlines for comment via email.
"We love Connecticut and are excited to continue expanding our presence here with these five new exclusive destinations," said Avelo Airlines founder and CEO Andrew Levy in a statement.
"With 39 route choices, Avelo offers Connecticut travelers more choice, affordability and convenience than any other airline operating in the state.
And when you couple that with our industry-leading reliability, it doesn't surprise us that nearly 3 million customers have entrusted Avelo with their air travel since we took flight here three years ago.
"Avelo's purpose is to inspire travel, and we are very optimistic about the opportunities ahead of us to make air travel easier, more affordable and more dependable for people across Connecticut."
Avelo's new flight to Jacksonville, Florida, will operate twice weekly beginning February 14, while its route to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will operate twice weekly beginning March 7 and its route to Detroit Metro Airport twice weekly beginning April 4.
Meanwhile, its seasonal service to Maine's Portland International Jetport will operate twice weekly beginning May 22.
The new flight route connecting Connecticut to Punta Cana will operate twice weekly on a seasonal basis, beginning February 21.
The airline will use the Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft for these new flights.
Avelo has flown more than 6 million customers on over 46,000 flights since its launch in 2021, offering budget-friendly fares from $39.
It remains a relatively small airline in the U.S. market, with other airlines reporting much higher passenger numbers.
According to Statista, the most popular airline in the US is Southwest Airlines, which carried over 171 million passengers in 2023.
That is followed by American Airlines, which carried over 164 million passengers last year and Delta, which carried over 161 million.
