Delta Air Lines is set to launch a new, nonstop service between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) starting March 9, 2025.

This development comes after approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The new route will provide customers with a more direct and convenient flight option between Seattle and Washington D.C.

The SEA-DCA route is one of five new flights approved by the Department of Transportation.

This expansion was made possible through Delta's lobbying, in accordance with the recently passed FAA reauthorization bill signed by President Biden in May.

Consequently, Delta will now offer non-stop flights to all three of its western hubs from Washington, D.C.

Delta’s president, Glen Hauenstein, applauded the Department of Transportation's decision, stating that the new route will provide consumers with much-needed competition and choice.

Community and business leaders backed the effort, highlighting the potential economic impact and customer benefits the route will offer.

The new route will utilize Delta's Airbus A321neo aircraft, known for its operational efficiency and lower fuel usage.

This aligns with Delta's commitment to a more sustainable future of flying, as reflected by its recent recognition from the Port of Seattle for having the highest percentage of fuel-efficient aircraft in use at SEA in 2023.

Additionally, SkyMiles Members will have access to fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi throughout the flight, and all customers can enjoy a variety of in-flight entertainment options.

Delta has been focusing on establishing SEA as a crucial gateway to Asia, with routes to Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, and Taipei.

As Seattle's global airline, Delta provides the most nonstop travel options to long-haul international destinations for consumers in the Pacific Northwest.

Beginning spring 2025, these routes will transition to Airbus A350 aircraft, which will provide 55,000 more seats per year than the current A330s.

This will also increase premium seat options in the Delta One and Delta Premium Select categories by 40%.

Furthermore, in the summer of 2025, Seattle will become the fourth airport to feature a Delta One Lounge, complemented by a second Sky Club on Concourse A.

Joan Wang, managing director for Delta Air Lines in the Pacific Northwest, reinforced Delta's commitment to connecting the world with Washington State.

This commitment is evident in Delta's celebration of over 90 years of operation in Seattle and its continued expansion in the region.

Delta, which marked its 90th anniversary in Seattle in December 2023, operates nearly 170 peak-day departures from SEA to over 50 destinations worldwide.

These include popular cities such as Amsterdam, Cancun, Paris, and Puerto Vallarta, as well as multiple cities in Alaska and Hawaii.

Delta is also a key gateway for operations across the Pacific, with four non-stop trans-Pacific destinations.
