Espargaro: "Martin with Aprilia can win the title, but watch out for Acosta"

Speaking recently on the Tengo Un Plan podcast, Jorge Martin expressed all his doubts about his chances of being confirmed as MotoGP world champion in 2025.

Having gone from the seemingly unbeatable Ducati to the more fallible Aprilia, which so far has only been able to shine on a few occasions, the Spaniard has almost resigned himself to a season of playing catch-up, where already a few podiums could taste like success, thus postponing the appointment with the world title to 2026 at best.

Asked about that declaration in DAZN's documentary "Espargabros," Aleix Espargaro wanted in part to raise the odds for his friend, as well as for the Noale manufacturer with which he raced until the end of last year.

"I have always believed that he can fight for the World Championship with Aprilia and I say this with the utmost sincerity.

I don't have even an ounce of the talent that those who have been fighting for the title possess, and yet I have managed to win races with this bike, got pole positions and set records at many tracks.

I'm not saying that Jorge will be able to do it as early as this year, but he can certainly have his say," commented the rider from Granollers.

For the new Honda test rider, starting next March, along with Martinator, in the battle against the Bagnaia - Marquez pairing, there will also be Acosta, fresh off a sixth place overall on his debut in the category.

"My former team is doing a good job, but KTM can enjoy an incredible star like Pedro, so without a doubt will be among the title contenders, although the Desmosedici is to date much superior to the others," he finally acknowledged the superiority of the Borgo Panigale bike.
