Frontier Airlines gives away 1 million Airbus seats for Thanksgiving

With the Thanksgiving spirit in mind, US low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines has announced a flash promotion to give away one million seats.

However, customers must move quickly to snap up the bargains, as the sale will end at 23:59 Eastern time on November 20, 2024.

On Monday, Frontier Airlines announced it was getting into the Thanksgiving spirit early, with a special 'Thank You Sale' offering up to 100% off base fares for a limited time.

Until 23:59 (Eastern time) on November 20, 2024, customers can use the promo code SAVE100 to redeem 100% off base fares for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and 50% off base fares for travel on Mondays and Thursdays through February 26, 2025.

Customers must purchase travel using the SAVE100 promo code on FlyFrontier.com to redeem the savings.

The discount only applies to the base fare and not to government taxes and fees or carrier-imposed fees, with the full terms and conditions available on the Frontier Airlines (Frontier) website. Tyri Squyres, vice president of marketing at Frontier Airlines, said:

"We are beyond thankful to our customers for their continued support and want to express our appreciation this Thanksgiving season. Now is a great time to finalize winter travel plans and take advantage of this exceptional sale."

In the same announcement, Frontier said it had introduced sweeping changes to its product and customer service offerings, ushering in 'The New Frontier' for the airline.

This boldly named initiative aims to provide customers with exceptional value and a superior travel experience while adding more transparency through upfront pricing and options to meet various customers' needs and budgets.

By offering no change or cancelation fees, a 'For Less' Price Guarantee, longer flight credit windows and more, America's Greenest Airline is improving what customers can expect while delivering the best price to meet their travel needs.

Here's what The New Frontier brings to passengers

  • Frontier now offers UpFront Plus, a new upgraded seating option with extra leg and elbow room in the first two rows of the aircraft.
  • Customers in UpFront Plus will have either a window or aisle seat with extra legroom and a guaranteed empty middle seat.
  • The airline's frequent flyer program, FRONTIER Miles, now allows customers to 'Get It All For Less.'
  • Members earn miles quickly and get rewarded for each dollar spent on Frontier products.
  • Miles accrue based on dollars spent with a standard 10X multiplier: $1 = 10 miles, with multipliers increasing at every elite level up to 20X.

Elite status brings additional perks, including priority boarding, free seat selection, no change or cancel fees when changes are made seven days or more before flight departure, and free bags at Gold, Diamond and Platinum levels.

FRONTIER Miles is free to join and is also family-friendly, as it allows easy family pooling of miles, making it more straightforward for families to enjoy rewards together.

Frontier, which is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, operates an all-Airbus fleet of 148 aircraft and has the largest A320neo fleet in the US.

The low-cost carrier has close to 200 A320neo Family aircraft on order, with the current fleet containing six A320-200s, 79 A320neos, 19 A321-200s and 44 A321neos in the Airbus Cabin Flex configuration of 240 seats.

The Frontier fleet's average age is just six years, and with so many new-generation aircraft on order, that will fall as new aircraft arrive in the coming years.

The airline's high-density seating configuration and weight-saving initiatives have contributed to Frontier's continued ability to be the most fuel-efficient of all major US carriers when measured by available seat miles (ASM) per fuel gallon consumed.
