Marc Marquez confirms shock split from main sponsor Red Bull

Marc Marquez has long been associated with Red Bull as one of the drinks brand’s main athletes, alongside F1 world champion Max Verstappen, but his long-term partnership has ended following the switch to the factory Ducati team.

Marquez has been a Red Bull athlete for his entire MotoGP career so far, including when he switched from Repsol Honda to Gresini Racing last season.

However, with Lenovo Ducati and Monster Energy partnered together, retaining his status as a Red Bull-sponsored athlete was no longer possible going into 2025.

This has led to the eight-time world champion confirming the news during a recent visit to Red Bull’s Hangar 7 event in Austria.

“It's the last appointment now,” he said of his visit to the art gallery and museum. “Ducati has another sponsor, so we can't continue.

Out of respect for Red Bull, I will not have a personal sponsor. I want to thank the Red Bull family and I hope we remain friends.”

This statement from Marquez seems to suggest he won’t be running Monster Energy branding as a personal sponsor, although it remains to be seen if he wears the sponsor on his Desmosedici GP25 machine.

At the end-of-season MotoGP test in Valencia, Marquez jumped aboard the factory Ducati for the first time but did so with no team or personal sponsorship.

Instead the bike and his leathers featured just his race number.

During his time as a Red Bull athlete Marquez has heavily featured the brand’s logo on his race suit and crash helmet, with it being fairly unmissable on the latter.

So it will now be interesting to see how Marquez goes about designing his helmet too, as the Spaniard had always used Red Bull sponsorship at the bottom of the lid.

Marquez is still expected to use Shoei X-SPR Pro helmets next year.
