Spanish rider Marc Marquez spoke exclusively to Sky Sport following the official presentation of the Ducati GP25 , in which he spoke about his excitement for this new stage with the official Ducati Lenovo team.
With humility and clear determination, Marquez expressed his impressions of the bike, his relationship with teammate Pecco Bagnaia and the challenges he faces in joining one of the most successful teams in MotoGP.
“In a new project you always have butterflies in your stomach because you don’t know what will happen ,” confessed Márquez. Despite being one of the most experienced riders in the paddock, this new adventure keeps him excited.
The Spaniard stressed the importance of having a competitive bike and being part of the reference team, stating: “When you have the bike and you are in the reference team, everything is in your hands .”
One of the key points of his statements was the recognition of Pecco Bagnaia , who has won two championships in the last four seasons and has established himself as one of the most consistent and successful riders on the grid.
“ Pecco will be the reference , the results speak for themselves. He is fast, knows the Ducati well and knows how to solve problems. I will learn a lot from him ,” admitted Márquez.
However, he made it clear that on track, both will be chasing the same goal: winning. The relationship between Marquez and Bagnaia seems to be at an initial positive stage.
Both riders have agreed on their opinions on the development of the new bike, something that Marquez considers beneficial for the team.
“It is good for the team that we have the same ideas in the development. It makes it easier to work. But surely there will come a time when one says left and the other right ,” he commented with a smile.
The eight-time world champion also reflected on his maturity and the change in his competitive approach. “When you are 20 years old you don’t have the same approach as when you are 32.
Now I am more aware of what it means to be here and the weight that these colours have . After the accident, everything that comes is a gift ,” he noted.
Speaking about the Ducati GP25, Marquez described it as a “very balanced” bike, an essential attribute for tackling the 22 races on the calendar.
His confidence in the technical team and in the direction of Gigi Dall'Igna is evident, and he is ready to begin the first tests in Malaysia with the aim of building a good base for the future.
