Marquez: "Don't compare me to Rossi, Agostini, and Nieto"

After all the problems he's had following his fall in Jerez in 2020, Marc Marquez is finally competitive once more.

And his winning races again during the season that just ended has made him smile again, even if he still falls.

"When you experience the other side of the sport, from one day to the next, what's bad changes you without meaning to.

Injuries put you in a downward spiral and make you realize that winning isn't the norm. That's why, now ,when I succeed, I try to appreciate it more than before," he reflected during the El Cafelito podcast.

Being able to race for a family-run team without the pressure of necessarily getting results has really contributed to his rebirth.

"Gresini Racing is a passionate and professional team. Befor,e it was run by Fausto, now by his wife, but it's still made up of the same people.

A perfect environment that has allowed me to have fun."

However, 2025 will offer a decidedly different narrative, considering that Marc will be riding the official Desmosedici.

"In this sportm you live in the present and with what you've done in the last races. I tried to adapt and gradually grew.

This led Gigi dall'Igna to bet on me. When I found out, I immediately asked where I should sign. I hope I can prove that I made the right choice."

Many say that, in the coming year, there will be quite a few clashes between him and Bagnaia in the Lenovo garage.

To this regard, the ace from Cervera was asked about two Real Madrid stars. In this case, he was compared to Mbappé, while the Italian rider was compared to Vinicius.

"It fits, because the latter is a reference point, like Pecco. In 2024 alone, he won eleven competitions, two chanpionship titles, and raced in the championship until the end, while Kylian had to adapt."

With humility, the 31-year-old preferred to keep himself out of the list of two-wheel champions. "I would never include my name among those of Giacomo Agostini, Ángel Nieto, Valentino Rossi, Mick Doohan, and Jorge Lorenzo."

He also expressed his esteem for his fellow countryman in the Formula , namely Fernando Alonso. "He has great skills, but he competes in a sport where mechanics matter a lot.

We hope that Adrian Newey (ed. Red Bull automotive designer in charge of Aston Martin single-seaters in 2025) will build him a good car."
