Max Verstappen and Marc Marquez's arrival at Ducati: “He will do very well, he is the best MotoGP rider”

Marc Marquez attended the end-of-year gala promoted by ServusTV at the Hangar-7 circuit in Salzburg.

The new official Ducati rider shared the stage with the recently proclaimed fourth-time Formula 1 champion, Max Verstappen.

Both motorcycling and motorsport share a passion for speed, which is why several drivers have dared to try their hand at the other side.

Valentino Rossi himself was even close to making the jump to four wheels with Ferrari , or at least that's what the rumours indicate.

The Dutch rider confessed at the gala that he is a big fan of the two-wheeled championship:

“ I try to watch every race. I even take my iPad to the circuits so I don’t miss anything,” he said.

Asked if he would be interested in trying out a MotoGP bike, the four-time world champion replied:

“ I would love to try it, but I think it is more prudent to start with a Moto2 or Moto3 bike before trying a MotoGP bike.”

However, he also admitted that both his team and Red Bull Motorsport advisor Helmut Marko have decided to ban him from doing such an experience due to the dangers involved.

Marc has also had the chance to test a Formula 1 car with Red Bull, the last time on the Austrian circuit of the Red Bull Ring aboard a Toro Rosso.

Throughout the event, there was also time for the two champions to coincide in the same space and time. The Red Bull Racing driver wanted to highlight the value of what the Spaniard has achieved: “ He has 6 titles in the top category .”

He also added that, although the Cervera native will have to adapt to his new team and will need some time, it will not be difficult for him. “He will do very well, he is the best driver on the grid,” he said firmly.

On the other hand, we have Marc. Years ago he had already publicly expressed what he thought of Max.

He said he really liked him as a driver, he considered him a “killer” on the track. He emphasized that the only thing that mattered to the Dutchman was winning, just like him.

The eight-time world champion wanted to return Max's words in the form of admiration, and wanted to highlight the difficulty of handling such a vehicle.

“The braking is brutal,” he said. However, he believes that current MotoGP could be simpler:

“In our sport, the rider has the ability to exert a certain amount of control over the bike with his body, which makes it easier in comparison.”

The next time we see these two on track for a Grand Prix will be in 2025. Max Verstappen will start the season with his teammates on March 14 in Melbourne (Australia).

The race will take place on the 16th. For his part, Marc and the MotoGP grid will start the campaign on February 28 at the Chang circuit (Thailand). The race will take place on Sunday, March 2.
