Max Verstappen, as he has done in the past few years, leads the drivers’ championship this season as well. Until the Brazilian GP, the 27-year-old could not win in any of the past 10 races.
Issues surfaced for the Milton-Keynes-based team, which also pulled them down to third in the constructors’ standings.
However, a well-fought victory at Sao Paolo has made Verstappen regain his lost mojo.
The three-time world champion has since talked of the necessity of managing tires in the cold temperatures of Las Vegas.
Once again, the temperatures look quite low, so it will be about managing the tires. We are taking each race as it comes and are looking forward to the final races of the season.
Max Verstappen said ahead of the Las Vegas GP
Verstappen has not functioned well across street circuits in his RB20 for the better part of this campaign.
The issues within the RB20 have been the main cause of their inconsistency in the constructors’ championship. They will therefore seek to resolve these as Formula 1 nears the season’s end.
The Las Vegas GP was problematic for the drivers in many ways in the previous season. Some struggled to find grip while others complained of faulty tarmac. Sergio Perez has thus shared his observations heading into the race in America.
We are coming into a very important weekend in Las Vegas for the team. This race last year was such an unknown, it was a brand new race, it was a new surface to us all and we were in temperatures we never usually race in.
Sergio Perez spoke ahead of the Las Vegas GP
Sergio Perez hopes that his team gains a better understanding of the Las Vegas street circuit this year around.
The 34-year-old has also claimed that the Milton-Keynes-based team solely struggled with the temperatures in 2023.
Perez has been one of the weaker links for Red Bull this season. He has not won a race since Azerbaijan last year.
His lackluster efforts have cost the team dearly in the constructors’ championship. The Mexican therefore needs to inevitably deliver good runs here on if he wishes to stay with the team.
