A box truck was left overturned on the tarmac of Miami International Airport after it was hit by a United Airlines plane.
The incident happened on Thursday morning when the Boeing 737-900 made contact with a catering vehicle.
Images obtained by NBC Miami show the box truck on its side after being completely flipped over by the plane.
It also appears that the wing of the plane has sustained some damage during the collision.
United said that no passengers had been onboard the aircraft at the time of the incident and that it is now undergoing inspection.
In a statement, the airlines company said: 'On Thursday morning, a United aircraft made contact with a catering vendor vehicle while being towed to a gate at Miami International Airport.
'The aircraft was not carrying any passengers and is undergoing a thorough inspection by our maintenance team.'
My has approached Miami International Airport and the Federal Aviation Authority for comment.
It comes after a dead body was found on the wheel of a United plane after it landed at Maui's airport in Hawaii on Christmas Eve.
UA flight 202 took off from Chicago at 9.50am Tuesday and arrived in Maui at 2pm local time.
The body was found in the wheel well of the Boeing 787-10, an area only accessible from outside of the aircraft.
It comes on one of the busiest travel weeks of the year as millions take flights during the holidays.
The Transportation Security Administration expects to screen 40 million passengers through January 2. Airlines expect to have their busiest days on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
