His dominant season in 2023 at the wheel of the RB19 was one of his most impressive years, having broke the record for most wins in a season, most consecutive victories, and highest win percentage.
Verstappen’s season propelled him to third on the all-time win list, behind only Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, which put him in the all-time great category.
The 2024 season was arguably the hardest for Verstappen to take the Drivers’ crown, given Red Bull slipped behind in the competitive order and also lost the genius of Adrian Newey as he left to join Aston Martin.
Verstappen still put up a fight, only finishing outside the top six places once during the Qatar Grand Prix Sprint race, while he took the Drivers’ title with two races to spare after an impressive comeback drive during the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The Dutchman added to his many records in 2024, including breaking two previous records held by Hamilton and Ayrton Senna according to Red Bull.
The start of the 2024 F1 season kicked off with another record for Verstappen, after he secured victory at the opening race in Bahrain.
After also securing the point for fastest lap, he took a maximum total of 26 points from the race.
This meant he amassed a total of 1,030 consecutive points having overtaken the previous record set by Lewis Hamilton at 1,008 points.
His run of scoring points goes back to Emilia Romagna GP in 2022 and was extended further when Verstappen took victory at the Saudi Arabian GP.
Verstappen would go on to match another record previously held by Ayrton Senna, which is the most consecutive pole positions.
The Dutchman matched Senna’s 35-year-old record for eight consecutive poles at the Emilia Romagna GP having run since the final race of the 2023 season.
Given that the 2025 season is set to feature the same amount of races, it is set to be another long season for F1 teams and drivers.
Christian Danner thinks the only thing that might stop Verstappen is the possibility that he might start to not enjoy F1, given how stressful travelling can get.
Verstappen could leave Red Bull for another challenge at another team in future, although Jos Verstappen says it might depend on how well the Milton Keynes squad performs in 2026.
The Dutchman is only 27 years old, so he will want to add to his legacy as he gets closer to the records of the all-time greats.
