Bespoke Bentley Bentayga SUV unveiled as wwi tribute car on the 11th day of the 11th month

This bespoke Bentayga EWB Mulliner SUV was unveiled to do just that – pay tribute to the Armed Forces, hence the unique poppy-themed design.

The visuals serve as a reminder of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, as well as the carmaker’s commitment to honor those that have served the United Kingdom in times of war.

The design is a wrap, not a paint job, featuring no fewer than 80 poppies rising from a map of northern France. If you know your WWI history, you’ll understand why they went with that design.

Each of the poppies is meant to mark a sacrifice made in the pursuit of peace.

The bright red petals can be seen from just about every angle, and the contrast is very powerful – talking about red on silver and gray.

For Bentley, this car stands as “a symbol of our collective memory and the sacrifices made by countless individuals. Every detail reflects Bentley’s respect for history, while looking forward into the future,” stated the carmaker’s design boss, Robin Page.

Meanwhile, James Lynam, another Bentley exec and co-chair of the BeReady network, had this to say:

“Remembrance is an important time for the BeReady network and Bentley, a time to reflect on the sacrifices of the Armed Forces. This year, with the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we worked together to create a design that honors the bravery of those who served, capturing the perilous journeys of soldiers in an instantly recognizable, powerful way.

This so-called Remembrance Car has already embarked on a journey across the UK, making key appearances in several locations – starting with the local community in Crewe. Next stop? The Race of Remembrance in Anglesey, where it served as the course car. Finally, today it returned to Bentley’s Crewe headquarters where company employees will gather in reflection.

Its final stop, on November 13, will be to go on display at His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire Awards.

We’re not sure what will happen to it next. Maybe it goes on display somewhere long-term, or perhaps it will get auctioned off for charity.

Regardless, this is without a doubt one of the most meaningful Bentayga projects we’ve seen as of late, and the fact that Bentley chose the Bentayga as opposed to say, the Flying Spur or the Continental GT, speaks volumes about which of their models they consider to be most important.

Meanwhile, this being an extended wheelbase variant and not the standard Bentayga also points to a prioritization of comfort above all else.
